Lora joined MEE-FIT way back in March 2016, 8 weeks after having her baby. She’d seen pictures & videos online from us, and felt that we would be the right place for her.
She’s been a member of many gyms over the years on and off, but always struggled to maintain this for long and quickly got bored.
“I never enjoyed the cardio side of exercise, and always preferred using weights to anything else. I’d often sit at home, knowing I should be at the gym but sweating at the thought of a treadmill or exercise bike! So, it was always too easy to find something else to do. This just shows how low my motivation had become but I hated coming home dripping in sweat and feeling exhausted. I didn’t realise there was another, better way to achieve your goals!”
Lora wanted to lose her baby weight, but also wanted to develop a stronger, leaner physique. Something she’d never managed to achieve despite different periods of going to the gym 4/5 times a week. Her overall diet wasn’t too bad, or so she thought. She’d never had a sweet tooth (apart from when was pregnant!) so she never felt that she needed to make any changes to her diet.
“When I joined MEE-FIT I was amazed at how much support I received on nutrition. I immediately decided to wipe everything out of my mind that I thought I knew about healthy eating, and listened to the advice I was given. It’s not rocket science or hard to maintain, which is what I love most about it, it’s just become second nature. I now know that I don’t have to go without the nice things I like to eat, it’s just about balance. I learnt so much about nutrition in a such a short space of time, and none of it was difficult or complicated”
Lora has achieved so much in two years at MEE-FIT, she still finds it hard to believe.
“I got to my target weight and continued to lose more without majorly trying. I now weigh less than before I was pregnant and I honestly couldn’t be happier with my physique. I have muscle definition that I’ve never seen on my body before, and my clothes (most of which I’ve had to buy new) fit so much better. My confidence was on the floor with how I looked after I had my baby but that didn’t last long. I feel stronger than ever, which is massively empowering for any woman! Some women are put off from using weights as they are afraid of getting too big or too muscly. But I can’t recommend it enough, I’m not too “big” but I am strong! I can deadlift over 100kgs, squat my own body weight and I have just managed to complete a set of 8 body weight chin ups. I can also do body weight press ups and more recently with added weight on my back as they became too easy. Until MEE-FIT I have never been able to do these exercises and I’m over the moon that I can now do them without a second thought.”
“I never thought I would enjoy training like I do at MEE-FIT, not once have I got home from work and thought ‘I really can’t be bothered to go’. I’m so motivated and excited to see what I can achieve in the next twelve months. The small group sessions are fantastic, everyone is so supportive and encouraging, it just continues to drive you forward. There’s healthy competition too which I love, but never any pressure. For anyone who is unsure or maybe wary about training using weights, I would absolutely recommend MEE-FIT. The whole approach to nutrition and training can’t be faulted. You also have constant support, not only from the coaches but from the other members, it’s not even an effort to stay focussed and motivated.”
