Prior to joining MEE-FIT Lee wasn’t doing much to keep himself fit and healthy;
“I did very little other than a really busy day to day lifestyle and few leisure hobbies on top. I actually felt I was pretty fit to be honest and it was only when I did my first class that I realised how wrong I was.
I tried a gym once before (probably 15 years ago) and for the first two weeks we had a personal trainer who would literally show us what we needed to do for a full session and actually it was OK. After the first two weeks we decided to carry on on our own. I think I lasted maybe two weeks after that.
There was no intensity to any of our sessions without a trainer and personally I needed that – so I stopped and never went to another gym again.”
Back in the summer of 2018 Lee was in the process of quitting smoking and wanted something else to focus on;
“To this day I honestly don’t recall too much other than seeing something on Facebook – I just remember looking for something to do or join as I was in the process of quitting smoking and I knew it would help massively. Also I didn’t want to join a conventional gym again as I knew I would flit in and out for a few sessions and then that would come to a halt.”
Lee has been training with MEE-FIT every since, and has been pleasantly surprised at how much he has come to enjoy training with us;
“To this very day I am still someone who doesn’t actually enjoy the thought of exercise without a sport, it always used to seem pointless. I love the idea of the competition that goes along with sports in general and I never really thought I would be able to get a fix by doing a workout or training.
Now, I thoroughly enjoy it.
There’s a great feel around the place, the coaches are the most down to earth bunch you will come across, the members are just fantastic, the equipment is amazing and the whole set up on how the sessions are made up, regardless of whether you are doing an SGPT session or getting involved in the TEAM cardio sessions is just great.
No matter how I feel or how my body feels there is a something I want to participate in every day if I get the time.”
For Lee the biggest achievements have been more about how his time in the gym benefits his life outside of fitness;
“It seems there is something new every week, whether it be going up slightly on the weights which you lift, being able to do some jogs with the wife because she used to nag at you constantly for smoking, but really simply, being able to play footy with my kids without needing to stop every 5 minutes because I was out of breath.
It seems the longer I am a member, the more often something happens which I feel is an achievement, for me!”
Lee has been so impressed by the set up at MEE-FIT and the enjoyment he gets from his training that he’s been spreading the good word far and wide;
“I would and do recommend it to everybody and anybody. There’s four or five of may mates joined already who I kept on yapping to about MEE-FIT.
They like me probably looked at the ad 20 or 30 times before making the call or filling in the online form. If its crossed your mind, seriously, do it, book your first class, do the trial.
Don’t wait – my only regret about MEE-FIT was not finding it earlier. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I can vouch for that.”
